Beat Up!

Yesterday morning I was watching two neighbor kids. We were all out side having a blast. Kya and Sammy, who's about 2, were running back and forth. Kya usually runs pretty dang fast so when she falls, she falls hard. And that's exactly what happened, I didn't actually see it but she sounded like she hit really hard. She had a bloody nose and her mouth was bleeding. She had scratched on both her knees and hands too. Today her nose is buised and her top and bottom lips are both big and sore. Poor girl. This kind of shows how bad her lip is. Maybe instead of a ballerina she should be a hockey player or something for Halloween!

Halloween Party & Carnival

It worked out really well, our new ward had their Halloween Party on Tuesday and our old neighborhood had their carnival last night!

On Tuesday we dressed up and had chille and then did a trunk-r-treat at the church. Kya couldn't say "trick or treat" so she would just say "BOO!" We had a lot of fun. Only the people with small kids knew who Preston was supposed to be but we had a lot of fun.

Then on Wednesday we had the carnival, it was just fun to see everybody. And we got cotton candy, that's my favorite! Evidently a lot of people forgot that I was pregnant because I got a lot of comments. So here is the sneak peek at our costumes, we'll have a full shot on Halloween.

Ballerina

An oz of Blood!

We are getting life insurance and so today they sent out a tech to evaluate us... ask us medical questions, get a urine sample, take our blood... the whole bit. For those of you who don't know Preston is not to fond of needles and doesn't remember the last time he had to give blood, even just a vile of it. So since I knew he doesn't do well with needles and such I decided to make him some orange juice. Just for a visual I'm behind the island in the kitchen and Preston and the tech are at the kitchen table.

Even before the tech started with any of the blood stuff Preston was getting nervous, clammy and starting to sweat. But then I looked up while he was actually taking blood, (which was an ounce) Preston was doing surprisingly well. The tech finished and asked how Press was feeling. Press said that he was feeling faint. So the tech told him he should probably go sit on the couch. (In my head I was thinking he should stay there for just a bit longer.) But it was too late... Preston stood up, his face was pale and had an "oh crap" look on it. Preston started to stumble toward me he hit the opposite side of the island with the middle of his chest. Then in an almost cartoon-like way he slid down the counter top. Luckily the tech had followed him and was behind him by now and caught him on his way down to the floor. Preston's eyes were open but no one was home for 5-10 seconds!

I was laughing the whole entire time, I know what a supportive wife I am! But when Preston woke up he had NO clue what had happened, who this strange man was, and why I was laughing so hard! He was a little out of it and started to ramble, "Who are you, what am I doing, what happened... Oh man I had the strangest dream." Which all made me laugh harder.

Next time we get Preston's blood drawn I'll know to have the video camera out!

Spoke in Church

So it was our turn (again) to speak in church. I only say again for me because this is my FOURTH time speaking in church in the last 15 months. I think that is A LOT. I know it's our fault for moving and I knew it was coming, but still. Well I shouldn't complain too much though because I don't even get very nervous anymore so it was no sweat. There was no youth speakers with us so we basically had about 15 minutes each... That was until I stood up, I felt bad I took more than my share of time and left poor Press with about 10 minutes. He did a great job though and says he didn't really have to cut much out, so I guess it all worked out. Preston is always so entertaining when he speaks, and he always has such a great message which makes him a great speaker! Plus by that time I'm already done with my talk and it's easy to listen to because Kya's with the grandparents!

Enrichment Crafts

On Friday night we had an enrichment "Girls Night" which we did crafts all night long. I only signed up for one craft... this measuring chart. So cute huh?! I thought of you Alisse because it has poke-a-dots.

But anyway my project probably would have only taken me about a half hour because of paint drying time. But I ended up staying for 5 hours because I helped a few other sisters with their SUPER crafty projects. Then I took my project home unfinished, but I was glad that I stayed because I had fun and was able to chat with a lot of women. And it really helped those women out that wouldn't have gotten their projects done. This is what I made for the other two sisters.

I noticed all of the hard work of the enrichment committee and they all did an awesome job! I'm glad that it's not my job anymore but I did stay and helped clean up because I know how that is to have everyone leave with so much left to do.

DJ Lance Rock Costume

So I've been working on Preston's costume a lot lately, the stripes aren't on yet but they will be shortly. The hat still needs to be sprayed orange but for the most part it is done!

Making costumes is AWESOME!

I made a DJ Lance Rock costume for my husband and this is how I did it!

I got the shirt HERE its the Gildan No Pocket Long Sleeve T-Shirt - Safety Colors in orange, and the pants HERE in the mandarin. I didn't know if they would match until they actually got to my house. And they TOTALLY did and I was so excited!

I went to the fabric store and bought white and gold felt, the iron on bonding tape, white flex fur, and orange fabric paint (to make the fur orange). I couldn't find orange fur any where!
I made the stripes on the shirt and pants out of the felt, (I made a pattern for the shirt stripes out of news paper so they would all be the same) cut them out (I put masking tape down the middle of the shirt to make sure it would be straight) and simply ironed them on. I cut out a long white stripe of felt for the belt which was then just tied on.

The hat was kind of a trial and error I just cut out the semi-circle shape and sewed it together. I had to cut it down a couple of times but it was pretty easy. As for the star shape I just cut it out of cardboard painted it and sewed it on like a button.

And the glasses you can find at any costume store.

I think I did an awesome job with his boom box, if I say so myself.
I just took a box spray painted it silver and then made the front out of colored paper.

This is my favorite his belt buckle!

I printed ROCK in a box off on to card stalk, added glue and gold glitter then folded the bottom and top behind and glued it together in the back so that I could slide the felt belt through it.

Oh My Little Girl

I thought I would just do this post for fun. Kya is really growing up so fast.

What a cutie!

These are just to prove that I do exist, I'm always behind the camera. So every once in a while I try to turn it on myself.

Loves everything of daddy's!

Kya's favorite word now is "MOMMY," I think she's finally figured out that when she says mommy, it gets my attention... I'm sure that will wear off but it's way better than whining at me. She says the words "please" and "thank you" but most of the time she just signs them. She does have other words too, I'm just not going to list them all. She's also trying more words as we say them to her. She loves kissing things including mommy. She loves to help me around the house. She'll mimic all of the house work that I do and she especially LOVES dusting! She really is so much fun and so very cute! She's growing up so fast!

Halloween Costumes

Kya is going to be a ballerina.

Preston is going to be DJ Lance Rock from Yo Gabba Gabba, if you haven't seen this ridiculous show you need to... just to see how great this guy is! Well at least if I can get his costume put together.

And I am going to be a school girl, similar to this.

Pumpkin Patch!

We went to the Pumpkin Patch to pick out our pumpkins, tonight for family night. All the Stapley's were there! We found our perfect pumpkins and then just chatted and looked around. My mom in law has the pictures of me in them. Hopefully those will be added later.

Kya loved the chicks A LOT! One even pecked her finger and she didn't even care.

My Baby is Growing Up!

Today I thought would be a good day to change Kya's crib into a real bed. We have a crib that converts into a toddler bed and then eventually into a twin headboard and footboard. Anyway, I decided that she was big enough TODAY! So I took the crib side off and put the toddler rail up and got her all excited about it. She thought it was so fun being able to get in and out by herself, and loves it!

Now the big test came when it was nap time. I laied her down told her to go to sleep. Minutes later I could hear her jumping on her bed (which was a common thing when it was a crib) but then I heard little pitter pattering of little feet. I thought she wasn't going to be able to have the freedom and go to sleep. But I waited it out a few minutes and couldn't hear her anymore. I went in and checked on her and there she was in her bed sleeping, all big and grown up!

She did fall off the bed mid-nap she was just standing in the middle of her room crying, so confused! She went back to sleep fairly quickly after I put her back down.

Hooray for Columbus Day!

30-Something Random Things

I love parallel parking.

I’m not a very good speller.

I’m not horrible at it and I do it, but I dislike reading.

You can never put too much chocolate in your chocolate milk, and if you can still taste that you are drinking milk you need more chocolate!

I used to prefer NesQuik, rather than Hershey’s for my chocolate milk, but I now hate it since they changed NesQuik to have less sugar! Makes me so mad! It’s only 3 grams… why can’t they just leave the sugar in it. It now tastes totally different!

I love fruit.

I put salt on pretty much everything, except for fruit.

My only exceptions to the previous rule is lemons and tomatoes (which I count as a veg anyway.)

I like green apples, not red ones.

I’m not afraid of the dark at all. But Preston is.

I’m blind in one eye and it doesn’t bother me enough to wear my one contact.

For some reason I like picking scabs… I know kind of gross, but true.

I HATE dishes in the sink, I’d rather have them rinsed and sitting out all over the counter. I’m more likely to do the dishes if they are dry and cleaned out, instead of in the sink wet with yucky water all over them. Preston likes them in the sink.

I had never seen another girl naked until I was graduated from high school, and working at a gym.

I like to doodle.

Preston gags and throws up easy.

If you go to the bathroom, you should ALWAYS wash your hands afterward. Even if they didn’t get dirty while in the process of going to the bathroom, when is the last time you washed your hands… it’s probably a good time to wash them anyway!

I have three really long black goat hairs that grow out of my face, one on my chin and two on my jaw line.

I think I drool a little more than the average person. Not just at night, but random times throughout the day… not every day though I’m not that bad! It did happen twice today though!

Some of these comments are pretty embarrassing!

A lot of these comments would be really good ones for the game my girlfriends play at Christmas… (I’m saving the one I was going to put here.)

I talk in my sleep.

According to my sister I make gross noises with my mouth while I sleep as well. Preston hasn’t ever said anything so that’s good!

I don’t really like drinking water, unless there is a TON of ice in it!

Why do girls have to be so mean in school, all the girls I know now are really nice.

I was a pretty rude teenager, mostly to my elders, but I don't think I was one of the mean girls.

Preston rocks himself to sleep almost every night and it doesn’t bother me a bit!

I think Preston looks like He-man especially with his shirt off.

I don't see myself as skinny as I really am.

I have asthma and if I don’t take my inhaler everyday I get sick for 2 weeks.

I have a problem with having “naked” or unpainted toes, I feel incomplete and naked!

I hate commercials, especially on the radio, while I’m in the car, Why do all of the stations play commercials at the same time! There are about 12 stations that I would consider listening to if one, just ONE, of them had a song on, ANY song!

I like green bananas, they just taste better.

Preston takes really long showers.

When I was little I wanted to be called Hairy Pig... I liked pigs. I still do. I just don't want that nickname anymore.

I feel more complete now that I am a mom.

I love swimming, I’d do it everyday if I could.

Fry’s is Cursed!!

This post is going to be long… but I really think Fry's is cursed and this is why!


So ever since we moved I have had a bad experience at Fry’s. First of all I HATE getting used to a new store! I am a couponer and so I pretty much go to 3 or 4 stores every week that I buy groceries. So I’m pretty familiar with each store and their differences. Since my old Fry’s was a “Marketplace” I have gotten used to the way it’s set up. But this Fry’s now that I have to go to is NOT a Fry’s Marketplace, it’s just plain 'ol regular Fry’s.

So the first time I went to the cursed Fry’s I wasn’t used to the set up and it took me about 10 times longer to find everything I needed AND I had to make circles around the store because I would pass the next thing on my list not knowing it! Since this trip took me SO long Kya was going nuts in the cart. So I had already opened the bag of Fishies and fed her a banana! I get to the checkout line and had everything loaded on the belt, and I noticed that my wallet was in the car still. There was a man behind me in line that now had to wait for me to run to the car and come back to pay. Not such a big deal without a huge diaperbag and a toddler in a cart! So I had to take the whole (empty, well Kya was in it!) cart with me out to the car and then run back inside. So embarrassing!

Now the second time I was a little bit more familiar to the dumb store but not familiar enough. This visit was late at night right before they closed and this time I don’t have Kya with me, so you’d think I’d be ok. NOPE! Mind you I am aware of the last time I was at Fry’s and I was really making sure I didn’t mess up, this time! Anyway, I am heading toward the only open check out and so is a lady with about the same amount of stuff who is headed straight towards me. We get to the line about the same time so I said that she could go ahead of me. She being super kind says, “I’m not pregnant, why don’t you go first.” I told her I get freebies all the time now that I have that excuse and again said it would be fine for her to go first. She insisted so I went first. As I got done loading everything, I made sure I had my wallet this time, and started looking down my shopping list. I had forgotten the chicken the main reason why I was there! I felt so stupid, I said, “Oh my goodness! I forgot something!” She still acting really kind said she could wait and would let me go get it. So here I am WADDLING down the isle to the back of the store as fast as I could. Got my chicken and ran back to the cashier! And if that wasn’t enough when I got everything loaded in to the car and started driving away here comes one of the bag boys with my shopping list which has all my other coupons clipped to it, chasing after my car! Super embarrassing.

THIS TIME was really bad! I headed there tonight and I don’t know if everyone knows this about me but I’m paranoid of people following me, mainly in the car. If I notice that someone has been behind me for more than I think they should, I usually don’t head straight to where I’m wanting to go I’ll do circles or something so I know they’re not following me. Anyway this must have been a coincidence because a 4runner happen to follow me basically from where I pull out of my neighborhood all the way to Fry’s and then parked on the same isle. I did noticed, but I didn’t drive around in circles this time. So after I parked I waited for them to get out… they didn’t so I got Kya out as quick as I could and went inside making sure that I kept an eye on the car. But in my rush I didn’t grab Dolly! And Kya was crying and screaming. I put her in the cart and she wouldn’t sit down or pipe down for that matter! So I put her in the cart where the groceries go and she calmed down for a while. In the checkout line though she began to stand up which I told her not to. But then she started to throw a HUGE fit because she wanted a strawberry. Since she wasn’t good I wasn’t going to give her one. So she then started to throw things out of the cart onto the floor! I was at a loss and I couldn’t control her at all. She again stood up and was SCREAMING at the top of her lungs. I finally get up to start paying and everything, I’m trying to get my Fry’s card out for the lady and get my coupons out… Kya is still screaming. She then reaches out and grabs this promo thingy that had about 100 coupon flyers for the circus or fair or something and dumps them all over!
I SWEAR that dumb Fry’s is CURSED! I might just have to drive the few extra miles to my beloved Fry's Marketplace... just for my sanity!

Kind of Embarrassing!

We have been having painters come every once in a while to our house. They've still got little things to do. Right now they are sealing the windows. They have all their ladders and things in the garage and Preston had just came back to bed from opening it for them. It was about 6 am about that time I empty my bladder. I was half asleep and went into my pottyroom... I never shut my door because it's my own bathroom, and on the second floor. But might I remind you that my pottyroom has a straight shot to the outside window in Preston's closet. Mid stream I hear a noise, I look up and there is a man on a ladder right in front of me. I couldn't really do anything but finish. So I finished and just hoped that he was paying attention to the window and nothing past that! I was laughing pretty hard walking back to bed though.
